Gradient Ascent
Gradient Ascent is an investment company, not a fund. We have chosen this structure to better align the long-term incentives of management and investors. We explain our reasoning in this short blog post.
CEO: Jamie Cassidy
Jamie started his career with the proprietary trading company Susquehanna International Group (SIG) in 2007, rising to Head of Index Options, Europe. In 2019 he joined Mako Trading and in 2021 was appointed Global Head of Trading.
In recent years, Jamie has become fascinated by the incredible pace of progress in AI. By combining this deep personal interest in the subject with a long history of successful trading, he is ideally placed to lead the investment team and capitalize on the acute opportunities which arise as AI transforms the global economy.
Council of Experts
We are building a team of advisors who are experts in the field of machine learning to ensure that we are always at the forefront of this fast-developing technology.
Analysts
We are hiring a small team of experienced financial analysts who share our excitement for the potential that AI brings.
Investors
We are looking for people who share this vision of the future to invest with us. It is so important to recognise the importance of the role of the investors in a project like this, and it is crucial that we are aligned on the foundational premise. Even in the last year, while there has been fantastic progress in the technology, we have seen periods of deep scepticism in public markets. We expect several cycles of sentiment like this over the coming years - which will enhance our opportunity, but our ability to take full advantage of these swings will be greatly improved if we have investors who are fully committed to our investment principles.
For more information on our approach, please see our foundational essay 'Investing in the Age of AI'.
Effective Giving
While this is a for-profit company whose primary goal is to deliver high returns for investors, the founders have pledged to donate at least 50% of their performance-related bonuses to effective causes.
